Hume Conservatorium (HumeCon) provides music education services and programs into the electorates of Goulburn Mulwaree, Eden-Monaro and Wollondilly in Southern NSW. HumeCon offers music tuition on an individual, shared and ensemble level, and supports and teaches students of all ages and ability experience the joy of Music. Tutors are providing music education services to over 1,300 students in seven local government areas within a 100 km radius of Goulburn. The organisation is an incorporated, not-for-profit community arts organisation and is a member of the Association of NSW Regional Conservatoriums representing 17 music conservatoriums located across regional NSW.
HumeCon is seeking a qualified, energetic and experienced musician / educator for the position of:
In-Schools Classroom Music / Instrumental Music senior teacher.
The role is permanent full-time and is scheduled to commence in Term 4, 2019.
An attractive remuneration package can be negotiated with the desired applicant.
The role works directly with the Manager: Schools and Outreach and CEO.
Goulburn is situated in the Southern Tablelands of NSW, about 50 minutes from Canberra and 120 minutes from Sydney. The regional service map of Hume Conservatorium reaches from Mittagong through to Yass, including Gunning and Crookwell and ringing the ACT. It is a region of diverse social and environmental demographics, including a thriving Arts industry, beautiful land, affordable housing and brilliant amenities. This is a regional growth area.
Selection Criteria: Essential
Bachelor of Music / Music Education or equivalent.
Current Working with Children check (or ability to obtain one prior to commencement of employment).
Experience in teaching classroom music.
A clear pedagogical approach to Music Education.
Experience leading music ensembles (Choral, band, chamber, orchestral or other)
Proven ability to work in a collaborative manner in order to achieve agreed outcomes.
Excellent organisational and communication (written and oral) skills.
A current driver’s license and car.
Selection Criteria: Desirable
Experience teaching individual instrumental students.
Understanding of HSC, AMEB and similar exam syllabuses.
